‘Disarray’ at ComLinks in Malone
The Malone Telegram has been doing great reporting on the continuing troubles at ComLinks, the non-profit social service agency that operates programs across much of the North Country.
ComLinks’ long-standing CEO, Nancy Reich, was dismissed in September and it appears that the fall-out from her departure continues.
On Monday, the Telegram reported that the ComLinks board has now lost at least five board members, including President John Ray.
That means a third of the seats are empty.
Meanwhile, an audit conducted by the state Comptroller’s office has been delayed. A spokesman for the state, William Reynolds, told the newspaper that “the accounting records at ComLinks are in disarray…”
This is a time when the North Country economy is in the doldrums, more so than ever.
The services that ComLinks provides are essential and many of the organization’s programs are well run and popular.
Hopefully a new leadership slate can put the group back on track, so that the melodrama, acrimony and disorganization will be a thing of the past.
