What a year for the In Box!

What a peculiar, accidental thing this blog is. Over the last year, the In Box has emerged as the most heavily-used part of NCPR’s vast and richly-endowed website.

We’ve muddled through special elections, bridge malfunctions, ideological debates, and hand-wringing over the economy.

As a MSM journalist, this form of communication often leaves me ambivalent, troubled, uncertain.

Much of the discussion is fascinating and nuanced, surprising and expansive. Bits and pieces are idiotic or offensive.

Perhaps the biggest discovery for me is how intimate it feels.

Even as more people have piled in to argue and think out loud, it has felt more and more like the kind of really great conversation I have sometimes at Stewarts.

So, I guess I’ll just say thanks and encourage you to stick around. As we wag our tongues and fingers at each-other, it’ll be fascinating to see where it all goes…
