I know, I know – it’s nearly impossible to say at this point what ‘comprehensive healthcare reform’ means.
But it’s still interesting, given all the talk of this being a dead issue, that so many Americans still want Congress and the President to get this done.
Overall, roughly two-thirds of respondents in a new Washington Post-ABC News poll say they want a bill passed.
That includes 56% of independents and a whopping 88% of Democrats. But it also includes a sizable minority of the GOP’s supporters.
The bottom line? This is important to people’s lives, especially as more companies are dumping private insurance every day.
It’s also incredibly tricky political territory. Neither party wants to be seen as intractable.
Democrats know that their base wants something done. And everyone’s trying to figure out what those independents want…
