Winter Carnival!

While the rest of the Northeast digs out from winter, praying for spring, we are literally reveling in the season.

Here in Saranac Lake, it’s full-on Carnival Weekend, with a glorious ice palace, crazy numbers of fun things to do this weekend, and tonight’s Rotary Show.

I’ve only been to the show once before in my 11 years in Saranac Lake, but we’ll be there tonight and I can’t wait.

If you’re within, say, a three-hour drive of Saranac Lake this weekend, you owe it to yourself to come over and check out the festivities.

Bring your winter duds, a big appetite, and skis or snowshoes if you’ve got them.

The afterglow of Carnival gets me through the weeks ahead, when I start to grumble a bit and poke under the snow for signs of those first crocuses…
