Speakerphones & the fundraiser

Right now in Boston we're trying to set up a neato gizmo that will
allow me to host the Beat Authority fundraiser edition live tomorrow.

But the gizmo isn't "talking" to MITs network.

So a moment ago, NCPRs Joel Hurd was on speakerphone on my iPhone. He
was talking to MITs IT dept, which was talking from this speakerphone
in the photo.

So speakerphone to speakerphone, with lots of high tech tools in
between, we're trying to get my voice live back to Canton.

Tune in tomorrow at 3 to find out if we succeeded!!

Joel Hurd or MIT…my money is on Joel!

St. Lawrence University has a course in which students are required to give up all electronics for two weeks. After a brief period of panic (or so I am told), they find they really enjoy not being bombarded by television, Ipods, cell phones, internet, etc. They talk face-to-face with professors as well as friends, they are less stressed and have more time for work, studies and fun.I think we should reconsider all this modern technology and return to civil discourse. What do you think?

NCPR news intern Chelsea Ross reported on the SLU unplugged story. You can find her story here.
