Truck catches fire in Canton

Flames at the front end of this truck were extinguished just before Noon today at the Sunoco gas station in the village of Canton.

Emergency officials have not yet released information on how the fire started or if anyone was injured.

There did not appear to be any fire or smoke damage to the gas station building or fuel pumps.

We’ll post more details as soon as they’re available.

    I happened to go into the Sunoco right after it happened. The truck belonged to the daughter of one of the employees who told me the daughter called her from Rt. 310 and said her truck was smelling really hot. She continued to drive it to the Sunoco where it obviously caught on fire. Nobody hurt but the truck looked pretty totaled.
