A class trip to Hooters? Really?

The Hadley-Luzerne School District is reviewing class trip policies after a group of high school students made a stop at a Hooters restaurant in San Francisco.

Sheesh.

This from the Glens Falls Post Star.

The Board of Education did hear from three people who questioned the trip during a board meeting in June.

“I think they could have made a better choice of restaurants,” Max Traver of Lake Luzerne said.

According to the district, the kids were taken to the restaurant — famous for its provocatively clad waitresses — by a female chaperone who at the time was president of the school board.

Double sheesh.

The Post Star article does note that the restaurant offers a children’s menu.   No reprimands are contemplated.

Doesn’t happen often, but I’m pretty much speehless.

The lack of forethought supposedly responsible adults sometimes exhibit is unbelievable.

High School students not grade school. This is the real world, how do you teach them to act responsibly in that world unless they are exposed to it. Big deal – Hooters, it wasn’t a strip joint!

I don’t much care that they went to Hooters. My point is that a school board president should know that word would get back, and that some parents would be less than amused. It’s also the responsibility of adults to teach young people that you have to weigh the consequences of your actions.

    They do.

They hand out condoms to students, Dan, come on.

Oh please Hooters is just a strip club for wimps. The point of hooters is big breasted women who wait tables that is the point. If schools want to say that is part of our values than sure be honest about it and maybe it is part of our value system today. But come on part of being a leader is having some sense of standards and if that is the standard than we should be open about it.

Maybe because I have never been to a Hooters, I don’t feel qualified to say much of anything other than it sounds like a tempest in a tea pot.
Is there a Hooters anywhere in or even near the North Country? If there is, please let me know so I can check out what all the fuss is about.
As I understand it, the claim to fame for Hooters is that they have nice looking girls who work serving tables. If this is the main difference between Hooters and other chain restaurants, then are people saying other restaurants have ugly looking girls working the tables?

Better not let these kids watch re-runs of “Two and A Half Men”.

Come on- what a bunch of prudes. These kids can see as much in school daily or at the beach. Hooters is NOT a strip joint or adult entertainment. It’s an overpriced sports bar serving mediocre food. If anything the chaperones might be criticized for selecting mediocre food. Let the kids be exposed to this now rather than sheltering them. It seems as if the parents didn’t care. It’s the busy bodies and old ladies in the neighborhood who’ve never been inside a Hooters. There uzed to be one in Crossgates Mall in Albany, but I’m not sure if it’s still there. If the teachers/principal are censured, I’d contribute $$ to their lawsuit against the district.

SH walked all over Michaelle Jean. So hopefully the new GG will not let that happen.
