The Glens Falls Post Star quotes Democratic Rep. Scott Murphy warning that Republican attack ads are about to start airing in the 20th district race.
“I don’t know what the stories will be. Maybe it was me drowning kittens when I was eight years old. I’m exited as you are to find out what it was I did that was so bad,” he quipped.
Later, there was a clarification from the Murphy campaign:
Murphy campaign spokesman Josh Schwerin said later that Murphy didn’t actually drown kittens as a child, and was just being sarcastic about what the NRCC might try to attack him about.
Whew…thanks for that.

This is why people are so sick of politics and attack ads.
Just for the record, I used to shoot English sparrows with my BB gun when I was in grade school.
Brian M: you mock the clarification but I have no doubt there are whackos who ran with it.
Pete, English sparrows don’t belong here anyway so don’t feel too bad, but the more humane thing would be to crush their eggs in their nests.
Brian,
There are probably those out there who’d believe the kittens were drowned due to a death panel decision.
knuckleheadedliberal,
It would have been even better to break the eggs open and fry them with a mess of black flies for a really good breakfast.
