Doug Hoffman has entered the room

(7:59pm Saranac Lake) Doug Hoffman is here, talking to supporters, being trailed by television cameramen.  This is a stark contrast to last November, on Special Election Night 2009, when he stayed away until after the election returns were in and counted.

Supporters I’ve talked to say they’re cautiously confident and optimistic.  A common theme here is anger at the Republican Party, which people here say has “lost its way.”

People here say they need people like Hoffman — as well as tea party candidates in other parts of the US — to put the GOP back on the “right” path.
