I mistakenly linked to an old advert that’s on the front of Owens’ campaign website currently.
In fact, the new ad is this one, an upbeat spot talking about Owens’ votes over the last year. Watch it:
The older ad is this one in which Owens argues that the Bush-era tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans — those earning more than $250,000 a year — should be allowed to expire. Watch it:
This is Day One in which Doug Hoffman and Matt Doheny are still feuding over the GOP primary, while Owens is moving forward, talking directly to voters about why they should give him another, full term.
With fewer than 50 days until the general election, Doheny and Hoffman can’t afford many days like this one…
We’ll talk in-depth with Owens about the campaign ahead tomorrow during the 8 O’clock Hour.
I think you are missing the message from last night.
The GOP establishment lost.
The fact that Hoffman did as well as he did, against the candidate picked by the GOP establishment (albiet a relatively conservative pick), means that it is not business-as-usual.
Let the process decide who is the candidate.
If the big-GOP-establishment steps in and creates the 900-pound elephant feeling toward Doheny, that will not be good.
If the process sorts itself out, and Doheny becomes “the people’s choice” he will do fine.
So, I suggest we all take a deep breath, and it’s not business-as-usual.
