Tomorrow morning

You can read the nut of one of our stories for tomorrow in the blog post below.  The Empire State games for next year have all been cancelled, including the winter games scheduled for late February in Lake Placid. That’s bad  news for athletes, and for the sports and hospitality legs of the Tri-Lakes economy. Tomorow during the 8 O’clock Hour we’ll hear from local folks.

Also tomorrow, another county struggles with its budget. Franklin County legislators have whittled a projected 30 percent tax increase down to abut 20 percent, and they’re “still dickering.”

Neither the state nor the Mohawks are saying much about the tribes’ suspension of  casino revenue payouts. Mohawks stopped distributing the revenue shares, alleging the state had violated the Akwesasne Casino gaming compact.

A Southern perspective on working outdoors this time of year in the North Country, from the winch operator with the crew putting up our new tower in Gouverneur.
