The Associated Press captured some of the mood around Fort Drum this week, following news that Osama bin Laden had been killed in Pakistan.
Joel Olavarria couldn’t stop grinning Monday morning: Osama bin Laden was dead, and the Army’s 10th Mountain Division was breathing a collective sigh of relief.
“He was one of our main people, but it’s never going to stop,” said Olivarria, an artilleryman from New York City who returned two months ago from a tour of duty in Afghanistan. “There’s more than one Osama. I’m worried about retaliation, but I’m happy.”
