This just in from the Adirondack Daily Enterprise: State Adirondack Park Agency Chairman Curt Stiles won’t seek reappointment to the APA board. Here’s a link to the story.
Stiles has been a member of the APA board since 2007. His term expired last month, but he can stay on the board until a replacement is named.
He didn’t say when he would leave the board.
We’ll be reporting on this story, the search for a replacement, and whatever comes post-Stiles–and the Adirondack Daily Enterprise will likely have an update a little later today.

I guess he is tired of being the whipping boy, plus the job doesn’t pay enough for the abuse.
He drew the criticism to himself. The APA must be steered in a new direction. Stiles has been an impediment for the attitude reform needed.
I am involved in local planning in my town and one of the biggest challenges adirondack communities face is affordable housing for our children and blue collar workers. Stiles pushed for and the gov just signed this week a law that will make it much easier to create affordable housing. It wasn’t our state senators and assembly people who came up with this idea. All I hear them do is complain. Fred Monroes group spends their time standing up for the lake front owners and rich developers while ignoring the needs of everyday adirondackers. This new housing piece will be Stiles legacy.
