Seven Days to the Adirondacks
Seven Days, the weekly that gathers up the threads of Vermont’s weird reality on a regular basis, has turned its attention once again to the Adirondacks.
The latest issue looks at everything from the arts — with a nice feature on Westport’s Meadowmount of School of Music — to the military’s drone overflights in the Park.
The magazine’s hipsters even head across the lake from Burlington Plattsburgh, to sample the other “lake city’s” nightlife, an article that starts by asserting that things are still a little patchy in P-burgh.
Part of the problem is, well, Burlington, the city’s relatively well-to-do neighbor to the east.
Mention the Queen City to a young Plattsburgher, and you’re likely to get a reaction somewhere between longing admiration and sullen jealousy.
For fans of the television show “The Simpsons,” Plattsburgh would be like Shelbyville to Burlington’s Springfield. D’oh.
So check it out. It’s always interesting to see yourself in a mirror and the folks at Seven Days are some of the best, wryest, most observant writers around.

Remind me not to go to Burlington. What condescending arrogance. You’d think they were Parisiennes. I wish they’d wandered into the Nine Post in Dannemora.
