Blog tracks the local storm news in Woodstock, VT

Julia Carlisle worked at NCPR briefly while a student at St. Lawrence. She’s been to Alaska and back, reporting for Alaska Public Radio’s KTOO in Juneau. Homebase is now Woodstock, Vermont. She’s been writing a hyperlocal news blog for about three months, covering town meetings, zoning and so forth. Now she’s blogging in the aftermath of Irene:

…with the Vermont Standard literally blown apart — their building was flooded six feet high and looks like a bomb blew it out inside….my blog seems to be the only source of information. It’s also an interesting line because the Town Of Woodstock does not have a public information office, so essentially “Early Bird” is the conduit.

She’s got important local notices, updates, anecdotes, and whatnot.

Closing her e-mail, she says she was born in the old Canton Hospital, which has since been repurposed for NCPR headquarters. On a purely local note…I think that would place her birth right about in my office.
