Finding Nemo at the Winter Carnival

Winter weather advisory from the National Weather Service in Burlington

Two very big events are converging this weekend in the Adirondacks.  The first, of course, is the final weekend of Saranac Lake’s Winter Carnival, which just happens to have the theme this year “Under the Sea.”

The second big deal is Nemo, the wintry storm that is expected to hit the Northeast this weekend.  Here in the North Country, a blast of snow is generally seen as a good thing.

It’s welcome relief to snowmobilers and skiers, and winter enthusiasts who are tired of seeing brown grass and want a little taste of, you know, February.

The weather is likely to make driving a little tricky this weekend, but if you feel like you can make it, check out the carnival.

Just down the road, Lake Placid is also hosting the Empire State Winter

This year’s Saranac Lake Winter Carnival theme is “Under the Sea”

Games, with more than 1,000 athletes competing in snow- and ice-sports.

So while the rest of the Northeast hunkers down, we’ll be playing.  Monday morning, tune in for an audio postcard from the festivities, with sounds from the parade, the snow rugby competition, and more.

Happy Winter!
