This morning, we reported on the growing activism in the North Country that aims to repeal New York’s SAFE Act, passed in January.

Some really strong and passionate arguments are being made in favor of rolling back the law, which was inspired by the shootings in Newtown, Connecticut and Webster, New York.

Meanwhile, here’s an update on gun fatalties in the US since Newtown:  2,506 gun fatalities.  That’s after Sandy Hook.

Out of that tally, 80 of the deaths are here in New York state and 43 of the fatalities were children.  Again, that’s in three months, since December 12th of last year.

Arms are any weapon which you can carry on foot. This is what the founders meant when they used that word.

So let’s see, that includes shoulder-fired missiles, hand grenades, RPGs, machine guns, flame throwers…

You think maybe it’s just possible that the founders, for all their wisdom, couldn’t foresee what technology would produce two hundred years down the road?

All of those weapons are fair game with an NFA. The hand grenades need to be disassembled until use or else you need an explosives license. I don’t think there are any restrictions of flame throwers. Its not really a missile if its being shoulder fired. Machine Guns just need NFA. $400 tax stamp

What are you afraid of? The criminal establishment can have the ability to have these arms, but people can’t? The reason for the 2nd amendment is to keep the powers between the people and government equal. I sure as hell wouldn’t want a hand grenade kicking around the house, but maybe 20 years from now we will be invaded by another country and I will want some. You cannot predict the future.

    Ron Paul
“Freedom is not defined by safety. Freedom is defined by the ability of citizens to live without government interference. Government cannot create a world without risks, nor would we really wish to live in such a fictional place. Only a totalitarian society would even claim absolute safety as a worthy ideal, because it would require total state control over its citizens’ lives. Liberty has meaning only if we still believe in it when terrible things happen and a false government security blanket beckons.”

So ONLY governmental interference infringes on freedom?! Slavery was not a matter of governmental interference. The four people now dead in Herkimer lack the freedom to live, and governmental interference had nothing to do with it.

There is more to freedom than the right to bear arms and low taxes. No one is trying to create a world without risks– that’s a straw man.

And what’s interesting is that the chief argument gun enthusiasts like to trot out is that their guns will protect them from the risk of home invasion– trying to create a world without risk, eh?

So what I got out of all this so far from reading the post is guns make people commit suicide, guns killed kids, well regulated militias should have rockets and all that other stuff, the second amendment is old, pro gun people are just scared that someone is going to break in their home and kill them and a gun wont save them?, government doesnt infringe on our freedo and its better to have government to control us?. What a bunch of spaced out nut jobs. Lol….first off guns were invented to kill…whaaaa duh! Kill who and what though? A dear, an intruder, or an inocent person? Now days people own them for self defense and shooting paper and animals. You can put the same gun in different peoples hands and it all depends on the person holding it. Wouldn’t make a difference if he had a gun or not because that’s his twisted little world. Not the the guns fault. You act like its going to solve the problems of the world. Death comes every day and has been since before guns, accept it and be glad it ain’t you. There are bad people out there in tthis crowded world, if you didn’t know. This ain’t f’ing heaven. Oh and freedom..its an illusion man. It ain’t free if its restricted..freedom with boundries more or less, but better than most although idiots want to ban everything..this makes you fat or this is bad for you or he shouldn’t say that..who gives a flying fart….don’t eat it, don’t buy it, grow a back bone. don’t try and ruin it just because you don’t like it you selfish prick and don’t act like you give a crap about violence because if you really did then woudnt you go to what’s on the top of the list or are you one of those ass backwards types that when there’s a knocking sound coming from you engine you fill up your tires or when the dog craps on the carpet you kick the cat. walker said a gun won’t kill an intruder lol..wtf?? We don’t need them because we are all paranoid lol..why the hell do cops carry them again? they must be paranoid. ftr..you can buy tanks, grenades etc..you need a special license and a lot of money.

It’s got to be drugs… No other explanation for rants like this.

I agree, you must be smoking something to come up with some of the stuff you say. You make about as much sense as a book on how to read.

I’ll give you a hint. The goal is liberty!
