Dr. Norman Ornstein
Dr. Norman Ornstein of the American Enterprise Institute spoke at St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY last Thursday evening. His address for the Contemporary Issues Forum focused on the dysfunctional workings of the current, strongly polarized U.S. Congress, the roots of the current standoff, and the prospects for improvement after the November 2014 election and beyond.
Ornstein is author of The New York Times bestselling book It’s Even Worse Than It Looks. He is a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, a long-time observer and scholar of Congress and politics, and writes a weekly column for National Journal and The Atlantic called “Washington Inside Out.” For thirty years, he was an election-eve analyst for CBS News, and in 2012 he served as a principal on-air election-eve analyst for BBC News.
