P.S. Harper’s best advisor?
A postscript to the rave reviews Prime Minister Harper garnered for his appearance at a recent charity gala in Ottawa.
Apparently, most of the credit belongs to his wife, Laureen Teskey Harper, who keeps a low profile but is known to possess a shrewd political mind.
Laureen Harper has been an active honorary chair of the National Arts Centre’s past four gala events. Last year, she refrained from attending in the wake of her husband’s controversial remarks.
According to an official biography on a government website, Laureen studied photography and graphic arts at technical college. She has traveled widely in Africa and had a career as a graphic artist in Alberta before politics brought her family to Ottawa.
The Harpers take in foster kittens for the Ottawa SPCA. In a more unusual hobby, she is also a well-known motorcycle enthusiast.
