New York Post endorses Hoffman
Another media outlet that traditionally supports Republican candidates has thrown its weight behind Conservative Doug Hoffman.
The New York Post — acknowledging that this race is a fair distance from its own back yard — urges voters to choose Hoffman over the GOP’s pick, Dede Scozzafava.
The Post is known for purple prose and this endorsement is no exception.
The paper blasts Republicans for nominating Scozzafava, calling it “an obscenely corrupt political bargain by GOP bosses that sells out their party.”
The truth, of course, is that Hoffman initially praised the nominating process and offered to support Scozzafava, before hoisting the Conservative Party flag.
The Post also leans on the canard that the much-vilified Acorn has anything to do with this race.
In fact, the Working Families Party (which does have ties to Acorn) has endorsed Democrat Bill Owens, not Scozzafava.
It will be interesting to see how North Country newspapers view all of this. Gouverneur’s paper has already backed Scozzafava, the home town favorite.
We should see how Plattsburgh, Watertown, Saranac Lake and other papers mark the race in the next week.
