Fort Drum troops will deploy to Afghanistan

From Fort Drum’s public information office:

The 10th Mountain Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team received orders from the Department of Defense ordering them to deploy to Afghanistan in spring 2010.

The approximately 3,500-member brigade will be in Afghanistan for 12 months.

The 1st Brigade Combat Team has deployed twice to Afghanistan (in 2003 and 2005) and most recently returned from a year-long mission in Iraq that ended in November last year.
