Akwesasne hockey team logo a copy?

Hours after I posted the new Akwesasne Warriors single A hockey team logo yesterday, Stephen Heisler of AmericanProHockey.com commented. He noticed the resemblance between the Akwesasne logo (right) and the one the NBA’s Golden State Warriors uses (left).

Pretty uncanny, huh?

Heisler contacted Sasha Tarrant in the NBA’s legal counsel department. Tarrant tells me the league’s intellectual property group is looking into it, but otherwise the league has no comment yet.

I have messages in to team owner Basem Awwad. I’ll update when I hear from him.
