Enterprise endorses Democrat Johnson in Assembly 114
It’s been a tough campaign season for Assemblywoman Janet Duprey, the Republican from Peru who represents the Plattsburgh region.
She tangled with many conservatives after endorsing Dede Scozzafava in last year’s special House election.
David Kimmel is running this year as a third-party Conservative, coming at her hard.
She also drew a qualified, thoughtful Democratic opponent, Rudy Johnson from Malone.
If Duprey and Kimmel split the Republican vote, Johnson has a very real chance of capturing this historically conservative district.
Now, the Adirondack Daily Enterprise has chimed in, with its editorial page arguing that Johnson would be the better pick.
We see his background as an efficiency expert for farms in Franklin County as a strong asset. An ingrained sense of thrift with money and energy, and professional expertise in energy-efficient technology and agriculture, could be put to good use for the people of the district.
The Enterprise also argues that a Democrat would carry more weight in Albany’s Democratically-controlled Assembly.
They also like Johnson’s plan for electing at least some APA commissioners.

Rudy would be swallowed up by the NYC democrats. Janet is ineffective. Dave would be a real force to be reckoned with. He would make his presence known. He is a former United States Marine in the race which should tell you something about his grit. Nobody is going to push him around.
Nothing will change if Rudy or Janet wins. NYC will continue going downhill fast.
Who cares what the Emptyprise has to say. Endorsements are egotisitical and meaningless
