Camp Gabriels, which sits just north of Saranac Lake, was placed on the auction block earlier this year by the state of New York. The former correctional facility was offered for a minimum bid of $950,000.
But several news outlets, including WNBZ and the Plattsburgh Press-Republican are reporting this morning that there were no bids.
The Town of Brighton Redevelopment Citizens Committee has actively tried to market the property for redevelopment and met with a similar response. No one attended recent open house tours of the facility.
The 92-acre facility was closed by the state Department of Correctional Services last year.

Well that is about $10,300 per acre.
The facilities are a burden for any buyer not an asset, how old are they how much will they cost to tear down, how much asbestos is in them to remediate?
They need to price it for redevelopment not some funky use of the old facility.
