DEC leaderless again
The Albany Times Union is reporting that Governor Andrew Cuomo has accepted the resignation of Peter Iwanowiz, acting head of the Department of Environmental Conservation.
“It’s an orderly transition,” [Governor Cuomo] said. “We’re continuing to search and to look, and we’re looking all across the country to find the best talent that we can.”
He added this to reporter Jimmy Vielkind:
“It’s not surprising, but the New York State government doesn’t have the best reputation, and there hasn’t been an actual clamoring of people to join the administration, and I think you’ll see that change as the state government regains credibility.”
The DEC took big hits to its budget and staffing levels under Governor David Paterson. We should learn soon who will lead the agency, and who will take over as regional directors in Regions 5 and 6 here in the North Country.

If it’s an “orderly transition” why did this guy quit before you finished scouring the country for “talent”? Give me a break. Let’s try and start out on an honest foot.
let’s hope the next director in Region 6 has some leadership skills, leaves the running of departments to the department heads and doesn’t micro manage
