Three people were injured and thousands of music fans missed the Bluesfest show after a violent windstorm quickly moved in, collapsing the MBNA stage backward onto the Ottawa River Parkway.
One man suffered a broken leg and abdominal injury. Paramedics said the other injuries were minor.
For the rest of the fans, the only injuries were inconvenience, and an evening without music.
Cheap Trick had just finished “I want you to want me” when the storm hit.
The remaining performances by Death Cab for Cutie, Joe Satriani, and Galactic were cancelled within minutes of the storm striking.
