This is the first case of post-Irene looting I’ve heard of in the North Country. Four men allegedly stole guns, alcohol and a television set from homes and businesses evacuated after the floods.
This detail from the Plattsburgh Press-Republican makes this all sound kind of scary.
After an investigation by New York State Police, the four men were arrested Wednesday. During that investigation, police found Smith and Santa Maria in possession of a New York State Police uniform that had been stolen from the American Legion Dry Cleaners on Malone.
The uniform was recovered, and the investigation is continuing with Malone-based State Police.

American Legion Dry Cleaners? Methinks they must mean the American VILLAGE Dry Cleaners.
Not surprising. I don’t know why anyone would think that this area would be immune to this type of behavior. Looting often follows these type of disasters.
Here are some of their Facebook profiles. By cross-referencing their friends lists, you’ll notice that they all run in the same crowd as Slater and Martindale, the men who killed the heron a few weeks ago. What is going on up here? So many destructive young men.
