This Holiday Week’s wintry weather has continued to cause headaches, power outages, and travel delays across the North Country, but the worst of the freeze-up appears to be over.

Tens of thousands of people remain without power in Ontario and Quebec, with some families — particularly in the most remote areas — still off-line in northern New York and Vermont.

According to the Burlington Free Press, a fourth shelter has opened in Vermont for families displaced by the loss of power.  The Montreal Gazette is reporting that power to Canadian customers may not be restored until after Christmas.

Meanwhile, National Grid is reporting more than 100 customers still without power in the Watertown-Gouverneur area.

We’ll have an update and the latest information Christmas morning during Morning Edition and the 8 O’clock Hour.
