NCPR Annual Public Meeting Thursday, July 9, 1:30-3:00 pm

The annual public meeting of North Country Public Radio’s Executive Council, which acts as the station’s community advisory board, will be held Thursday, July 9 from 1:30-3 pm in the Sykes Lounge at St. Lawrence University on Park St. in Canton, NY. The public is invited to attend. The meeting will also be webcast live on the home page at ncpr.org.
There will be a question and comment period for the public beginning at 2:15 pm. You may also submit questions in advance or during the meeting via email to station manager Ellen Rocco ([email protected]).

The governing board of North Country Public Radio is the Board of Trustees of St. Lawrence University.
First let me say thanks for the informative comments from the woman near the camera who told the meeting during the public comment period that, the board members were expected to make a donation of some undisclosed amount to sit on the board. Although the specific cost was not mentioned she implied it was substantial.
Second I would like to apologize for bringing up the thin legal ice the station walks on with it’s documentable bias. It’s way too soon in this process to go into legal resolution of our differences. I still believe that this whole problem is resolvable within the existing management structure, and that we are all on the same side.
Third I want to press ahead with the community/NCPR interface I asked the station to initiate. Some time and place to bring group of people together to do something to bridge the gap between poor people in the North Country, and the wealth that is embodied in SLU as an institution, and by extension (sharing the same board) NCPR.
Fourth, and easily done, I want the station to air Democracy Now!. To anyone who reads this comment,

So this is the board, a community board, that meets CPB Corporation for Public Broadcasting Rules for a Community Board? During the live webcast a board member indicated a contribution was a needed become a member. How is this arranged?
Is the Executive Council the Community Board according to CPB standards? How does a member of the public become eligible to have a seat on the board? Is it open to the community?
