Little, Sayward will vote against state worker furloughs

State Senator Betty Little and Assemblywoman Teresa Sayward will both vote against a plan to furlough state workers as part of Governor David Paterson’s budget cutting effort.

According to the Adirondack Daily Enterprise, a vote could come as early as this afternoon.

“The people who do the work on the ground shouldn’t make sacrifices” because the budget’s late, Sayward told the Enterprise.

The measure would hit thousands of workers across the North Country, costing them a day’s pay each week until a permanent budget is passed.

Some employees, including nurses,, state police, and corrections officers, would be exempted.

As they should – It is sickening that the State always looks to the state workers (who keep this state going in more ways than one, especially in the north country) to solve the state’s fiscal crises. IT is the LEGISLATORS who have created this problem with their petty squabbling over power for themselves and to enrich themselves and the corporate special interests to whom they cater. VOTE OUT ALL ENCUMBENTS, especially those in the “leadership”.
