It just doesn’t get any better than this

Saturday afternoon, after a couple of days kayaking and camping on Lake Champlain, we drove up through Ausable Forks, Wilmington, Lake Placid, and home to Saranac Lake.

Here’s what we saw on the drive:  fly fishermen, motor cycle “gangs,” hordes of bicyclists, hiking trailheads busy with cars, tourists strolling, people sitting on the beach, and folks eating at outdoor cafes.

Just about everything was in bloom.

Some of these things it takes a few dollars in your pocket to enjoy, but there are an awful lot of beaches you can sit on for free around here.

There’s really no point here, just a quick nod at one of those North Country-Adirondack weekends that should be framed and hung up somewhere.

If you haven’t enjoyed this one yet — there’s still an entire Sunday waiting for you.

This has been a fantastic Spring in the Adirondacks. Early May is a great time of year– the bugs aren’t a nuisance– yet.
