Gibson supporter: “I’d trust [Murphy] with my bullet.”

Democratic Rep. Scott Murphy’s campaign is circulating a press clipping about a Youtube video, apparently recorded earlier this month, which shows Republican Chris Gibson speaking to supporters.

When Gibson asks whether the people in the crowd would trust Murphy with their guns, someone replies, “I’d trust him with my bullet!”

There is a smattering of laughter, but Gibson makes no visible response, and simply goes on with his comments, saying, “These are the facts, these are the facts.”

According to Politico, Gibson’s campaign manager says the candidate never heard the statement.

Gibson spokesman Dan Odescalchi:

“Chris never heard the comment from the audience. Chris was using a microphone and PA system in the front of the room. Chris would obviously never condone any violence of any kind. In this country we settle differences at the ballot box.”

Knowing that I share the North Country with people like that, I get worried. I get nervous.

    Sorry, couldn’t resist.

There’s always an idiot that says something stupid. People like that reflect poorly on the gun owners and sportsmen out here. It takes time to educate morons like that of the harm they do.

Why isn’t Gibson telling this person that he doesn’t tolerate that kind of garbage in his politics? If he didn’t hear that remark, I sure as heck wouldn’t trust him to, ” … Hear his constituents. The man obviously doesn’t hear well. The old guy sitting next to him appears to have heard it plain and clear.
