Bronxville ends North Country’s football title run, twice

The Bronxville Broncos today captured the Class C high school football championship at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, dominating the General Brown Lions 34-14.

The Lions, from the town of Dexter west of Watertown, trailed 34-0 before putting points on the board.  This from the Watertown Daily Times.

Bronxville led General Brown 27-0 at halftime and added another touchdown in the third quarter before the Section 3 champs could get on the board.

General Brown scored a touchdown each in the third and fourth quarters, and came within 10 yards of scoring another one before time ran out.

Bronxville beat the Saranac Lake Red Storm 49-14 during a semi-final game in Kingston earlier this month to set up Sunday’s game against the Lions.

This was the first time that a North Country football team made it to the Class C state championship.

    Thanks.
I has been looking for this result as I had been following Sararnac Lake football, and wanted to see how the enormously talented Bronxville team that beat them last week did. Yet the results, of interest to many North Country residents, were not carried on Plattsburgh’s WPTZ on Saturday night, or in the Press-Republican on Sunday. Ditto on the results of the Class D finals, which involved the team that beat Moriah. I finally did get these on-line, after a prolonged search. Lots of hockey, college football, local bowling and other scores, however.
Nice to know at least one news source gives a rat’s patootie about playoffs involving local teams .

Saranac Lake made it to the 1995 championship, but eventually lost to Leroy…just making a correction to the the comment on a class C team not making it to Syracuse
