Morning (sports) read: Fight night in Lake George and new life for Titus Mt.

Morning, folks. Here’s the sports page edition of the Morning Read. The Associated Press is reporting that state investigators are looking into a possible illegal fight-night in Lake George.

The New York State Athletic Commission, following a complaint that one competitor was kicked and lay unconscious 15 minutes, is asking the attorney general’s Criminal Prosecutions Bureau to take a look at the videotaped Aug. 20 fights in Lake George.

The promoter says it was all on the up-and-up, with an emergency medical technician on hand.

Meanwhile, the Plattsburgh Press-Republican is reporting that Titus Mountain — the fun ski hill in Malone — has sold to local entrepreneurs.

Brian Monette said the family is already involved in the day-to-day decisions at the Johnson Road resort.

He said the management team and employees will be retained and little will change at the sports facility for now.

Great news for skiers, even better news for Malone.

  1. Pete Klein says:

If the state wants to save money (our taxes) it could start by getting rid of the New York State Athletic Commission. It could follow by getting rid of the Liquor Authority.
Feel free to add to the list.

  2. If Clapton is God, Warren Haynes is Jesus says:

I’ll add marijuana prohibition and all the costs associated with it: interdiction, prosecution, and incarceration. Regulate it like alcohol, another drug we learned long ago was impossible to “prohibit.”

But on a brighter note, good news for the folks of Malone. Good to hear a significant number of jobs will be saved.

  3. Two Cents says:

    yeah! for Titus!
Don’t want the Government to regulate marijuana, they surely would screw it up. Decriminalize it, but don’t turn it into another big business like tobacco and alcohol run by the Government.
