Enterprise: Lowe resigns DEC Region 5 post

The Adirondack Daily Enterprise is reporting this afternoon that Betsy Lowe, founder of the Wild Center in Tupper Lake and current head of the DEC’s Region 5 — which includes much of the Adirondack Park — is stepping aside.

In an interview with the paper’s Mike Lynch, Lowe cited personal reasons for resigning.

“I’ve been working 24/7 my entire life,” she said. “The timing works from a lot of different perspectives.”

The change won’t affect the DEC’s involvement on the Adirondack Park Agency board in the run-up to the vote on the Adirondack Club and Resort project.

On those deliberations, Lowe had already handed off duties to Judy Drabicki, director of the DEC’s Region 6, which includes western sections of the Adirondacks.
