The East Nepean Eagles are going to the Little League World Championship games.

It’s nice to get a mix of topics moving through the In Box, so here’s a modest sport news update for today.

An Ottawa area team, the East Nepean Eagles, has won the Canadian Little League Championship and will compete at the Little League Baseball World Series in Williamsport, PA.

As reported by the CBC, the 11-12 year olds upset the White Rock All-Stars from British Columbia on Sunday in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. Here are two write-ups on the final game from the Ottawa Citizen and from the Cape Breton Post.

In the U.S., the Little League regional playoffs have also wrapped up, as can be seen here. (I’m not sure playoffs is the right term, especially with the number of divisions and categories involved. But you get the drift.)

The main event will take place Aug 15-25 as per this schedule. Good luck to all the competitors!
