Earlier this year, paddlers in Michigan captured the title for the biggest flotilla of paddlers, according to the Guinness World Record.

They amassed 2,099 canoes and kayaks, breaking the record set in Inlet of 1,902 by a whopping margin.  Now Adirondackers plan to fight back with a big flotilla event scheduled for next fall – on September 13, 2014.

The last Inlet flotilla raised $80,000 for breast cancer research.  This gathering, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks and the One Square Mile of Hope committee will have a similar charitable mission.

This year the primary recipient of the funds raised will be The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, located in NYC. The mission of The Breast Cancer Research Foundation is to achieve prevention and a cure for breast cancer in our lifetime by providing critical funding for innovative clinical and translational research at leading medical centers worldwide, and increasing public awareness about good breast health. Currently, 91 cents of every dollar spent by BCRF is directed towards breast cancer research and awareness programs.

Online registration is NOW OPEN at onesquaremileofhope.org.

If you would like to volunteer, donate, or help sponsor the 2014 event please contact Adele Burnett or Mitch Lee at the Inlet Information Office by calling 315-357-5501 or email [email protected].
