Morning Read: A big jobs deal for Plattsburgh?
The Plattsburgh Press-Republican is reporting that a press conference has been scheduled for later today in Plattsburgh involving the Laurentian Aerspace project.
Laurentian Senior Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer Andrew Edwards said he would be at the Plattsburgh-North Country Chamber of Commerce for a press conference at 10 a.m.
He declined to provide details Thursday on what he would announce concerning the more than $200 million proposal.
Laurentian Aerospace announced plans in 2006 for a 273,000-square-foot, two-bay hangar to be built at Plattsburgh International Airport. The hangars would perform maintenance, repair and overhaul operations on large-body aircraft.
This has been the holy grail for jobs development in Plattsburgh for the last five years and if it’s coming to fruition, there could hardly be better news for the region.
Early in the process, Laurentian projected that as many as 900 high-paying jobs could be created. NCPR will update this story after 10 am when we know more.
