The Ausable River dipped back below flood stage Sunday, a day after emergency crews and first responders went on alert to keep an eye on flood-prone stretches of the stream from Keene to Ausable Forks.
The concerns followed a week of wet weather that saw rain and snow in the North Country that brought more than five inches of total accumulation in parts of the Adirondacks — and nearly ten inches in parts of Vermont.
As the skies cleared on Sunday, the National Weather Service warned of a late-May frost in the Adirondacks, with temperatures in some areas expected to drop to 29-degrees Fahrenheit.
