Geographic diversity in LG picks?

Attorney General–and front runner in New York’s gubernatorial race–Andrew Cuomo tapped Rochester Mayor Robert Duffy to be his Lieutenant Governor today.

It’s a position that’s taken on a new significance after former Gov. Eliot Spitzer stepped down amid a prostitution scandal. That elevated current Gov. David Paterson, who has had some difficulty wielding the power of the state’s top office.

But both were from New York City and lots of upstate voices have questioned if either of these men really had a grasp of our issues.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Rick Lazio picked Greg Edwards, the Chautauqua County Executive as his running mate.

What do you think of these picks? Does geographic diversity on the ticket matter? Will it help this region? Will it sway your vote?
